Made it to Wisconsin...

Well, I'm writing to you from my closest friends' living room! Yay!

The trip from VA to here was interesting. The first time I became nervous was when I saw a "Welcome to Kentucky" sign. I had checked out Google Maps and had the basic idea of my route from Virginia to West Virginia to Ohio and then west (through IN and IL) to Wisconsin. So, in following my GPS, I was surprised to find out I was in Kentucky! I checked to make sure I typed the right address, which I did, then called my mom to double-check Google Maps for me. She let me know the route it was probably going to take me on, and I got back to enjoying the scenery... and boy I did! If you've never been to or even driven through Kentucky, you must! It's beautiful!! If I ever became a country girl, that's where I'd want to live!

I kept driving and decided to stop for some eats when my stomach was growling at me. After giving my order, I asked the lady if I was still in Kentucky (I had noticed it was really flat, not as green, and hadn't seen any horses in awhile). She just started laughing and repeated my question to someone in the back. Awkward. When she finished laughing at me, she let me know I was in central Indiana. In my defense, I told her I never saw a "Welcome to Indiana" sign. Then they felt bad and gave me a hearty "Welcome" in unison. At least I was farther ahead than I thought!

Outside of Indianapolis, it was rush hour so I noticed the cars were very congested, including the tractor trailer in the same lane behind me. Ever since I took a defensive driving class back in the day, I'm a big fan of leaving safe distances between me and car's in front of me. And thank God I do! I heard a weird sound, like a crunch and noticed I was accelerating more for some reason. That would be the semi behind me! He hit me and then my bike/bike rack was stuck in his grill! All I could do was make sure I didn't hit the car in front of me. The bike got loose and I was able to get off to the shoulder on the Interstate. Wish the driver of the semi did the same! I'm fine. It could have been much worse if I didn't have the bike/rack to absorb the impact (although I hate that I can't ride my bike now. sad face.) or if he had side-swiped me or was going faster. I filed a police report and my insurance company claims department is trying to track him down. The car's drive-able, but needs some work to fix up the back (including a trunk that can no longer open! -I had to lower the back seats to get my bags out which got wet since the trunk is no longer tightly sealed).

BUT... I made it! And I love being with friends and cannot believe how huge the kids have grown since I saw them last year! And a week from today I get to see my baby!!!
